Falling Splendor

Tonal showers from ochre to magenta
Dropping down, blanket frosted grass
Cut swathes of sunlight through canopy
As they glide from their lofty perches
Falling from their Summer home

Furry bandits in tawny overcoats
Gather in their nutty harvest
Rude looters rustling in leaf litter
Chattering against all intruders
Warning my cat not to meddle

Autumn is my favorite time of year
When a brazen sky breathes a softer sigh
After sizzling Summer has burnt greens
To a pleasing palette fit for any frame
Making outdoors fun for everyone
