We are describing a common everyday object held in hand for Sarah Southwest. Sarah’s the barkeep in the Dverse Tavern. This is a constant battle for me:
World’s away are fading,
then coming into view.
degrading, depixelating,
then born again anew.
A downhill ski begins
The contours of my nose
Oily skin has done me in
Unless I’m in repose
Creative way to describe glasses!
Thanks Revived. They slip down my nose with the slightest bow
Nice sound especially this line with the internal rhyme: “Oily skin has done me in”
Thanks Frank. That sweaty, oily complexion does my glasses in
Oh, yes. The glasses. Made me smile.
Thanks Sarah. I hate working outside. They fall off every time I bend over
This one made me laugh — well done!
Thanks Jo, I appreciate it 🙂
This prompt brings out the creativity and fun in many of us. I’ve worn glasses since I was 5 years old; only take them off to sleep. I just forget I’m wearing them. Good on you for choosing them.
Thanks Glenn. They pick on me so often, it only seems fair
Oh yes…exactly why I don’t ski, lol. Very creative.
Amazing how those down hill skis transverse our nose! Mine dig in and leave trenches!! An interesting take on the prompt.
Owee! Mine did too, till I got thinner lenses
Oh this is so familiar! I have the same problem with my glasses!
Especially when you’re working outside
Ha.. we all have problems with our glasses, yet the alternative is worse
Yeah, I’m way too old for contacts
how charming to describe an everyday object this way, it must be so annoying to have them slipping off at the most inconvenient time, love the poetry style…Gina
Thanks Gina. They are a slippery lot
Smiling I am….especially at the oily nose and those slipping specs! 🙂
Thanks Lillian 😊
Oh my goodness, this was entertaining. My reading glasses broke today at work, but I carefully balanced them upon my nose with only one temple, so this was a timely poem for me…hehehe.
You can wrap them in tape to hold them together. it has a real retro vibe too, lol
