Whispers

De Jackson has called the Monday night Quadrille to order, here in the Dverse Lounge. Tonight’s word is Murmur:

A murmur’s just a rumor,
Without its boots laced yet.
A festering reminder
Lest we should all forget;
hurtful words that tear us,
Worse than a lions maul.
Rending hearts in pieces,
Dealing grief to all!
Graceless words,
careless lips
Lashes, strokes, mindless trips

    Yes indeed……..a very different approach to “murmur”…….the pain of some words….the hurt, the rendering, the grief. Those rumors that get told and retold and it’s like they’re lacing up those boots just plain wrong, not paying any attention to the eyes and tightness and pattern and truth. Well done!

    I love the personification in:
    ‘A murmur’s just a rumor,
    Without its boots laced yet’.
    I also like the way the rhyme builds up from a murmur to the rhyming couplet:
    ‘Graceless words, careless lips
    Lashes, strokes, mindless trips’.
